Refunds and cancellation
Last updated November 4, 2026
Cancel any time
Open Billing in your account and choose Manage billing. You can cancel there in a couple of clicks, with no email or call needed. Your subscription then stops renewing.
What happens when you cancel
Your plan keeps running until the end of the period you have already paid for: you can keep writing and use the words left in your current month until then. After it ends, you can still sign in to read, edit, and export everything you wrote; only new articles need an active subscription. Nothing is deleted unless you ask us to delete your account.
Refunds
Payments are not refunded, in full or in part. That includes the unused part of a month or a year, words you did not use, and the rest of an annual term after you cancel. Each article's words are spent as it is written, so we price the plans to be fair without refunds rather than build refunds into the price.
The exception is a billing mistake on our side, such as being charged twice or charged after you canceled. Email [email protected] and we will refund the mistaken charge.
Switching plans
You can move between Starter, Pro, and Scale, and between monthly and annual billing, from the same Manage billing page. It shows any amount due before you confirm. A bigger plan adds its extra words to your current month straight away, and you pay only the difference for the rest of your billing period. A smaller plan starts when the period you have already paid for ends.
If a payment fails
Stripe emails you and retries the card. You can keep writing for 7 days while you update your card; after that, new articles are paused until the payment goes through. If every retry fails, the subscription is canceled. Nothing you wrote is lost, and you can subscribe again at any time.
